I got sick yesterday. I’m fighting a flu thing sort of.

I’m really tired and loopy. I slept 12 hours last night.

Here are some quick hits:

-They have monkeys instead of squirrels.

-Carol owns three cats, but they don’t quarrel with the monkeys.

-Chickens also roam around the parking lot. I don’t know if they quarrel or not.

-The monkeys live in a three story mango tree growing in the parking lot outside the flat.

-I stepped in monkey poo.

-I went to a village an hour north of Mombassa to where Malcolm and his family used to live for 10 years. Bush, people, the bush.

-I road a ferry over the Indian Ocean.

I need to go back to bed.

I hope you feel better soon. Remind me to tell you the story Janice told me about squirrels…well, no maybe not!

I would think monkeys have the potential to be more annoying than squirrels.

    Hope you feel better soon!

Do you know that malaria feels a lot like the flu? That is little bit of trivia that may come in handy… I think it takes about 10 days to incubate.

Just a follow-up on Bruce’s comment. It would be a good idea to check out the malaria angle, but caught early enough, it is quite treatable. (Bruce has had it a couple of times). Normally though, malaria is not found in higher altitudes like Nairobi). I lived in Nairobi for 6 years without taking medication to prevent it and never had it.

I hope you feel better. I would like to exchange the squirrels in my backyard for the monkeys where you are. I will be sending them in a package. Please send me the monkeys.

Your blog is fabulous! I’ve been a bit behind, so I read about half of it in one sitting and it totally makes me miss Liberia. I envy the way you can process and describe your experiences so eloquently. Thanks for taking the time to share…

I met a man in Central Market-Plano from Kenya. It said so on his namebadge in typical CM fashion. I told him I had a friend in Kenya. He ask me why and where you were. Then he said, “So when will you go and see the things he has seen?”

    I loved that.
